A Message from Our Principal

Dear Families,

Welcome Back! We hope you had a wonderful summer break with your students. The first day of classes is Thursday, July 14, 2016, and your child’s hours will begin at 7:50 a.m.

We are very excited to welcome you and your students as we continue our educational journey together. We continue to provide free transportation, breakfast, and lunch for all students. If you have any transportation changes, please call in or e-mail all changes by 10:00 a.m. with the exception of Thursdays. Every Thursday, call in changes to student transportation arrangements no later than 9:00 a.m. If your students have food allergies, please provide the doctor’s notice to the front office staff so that our lead teacher and the cafeteria staff can be aware of your students’ food sensitivities.

Please remember the following:

  • Please use safety when driving. Our students’ safety is our top priority. Please abide by the school zone limitations and walk in all students in grades PreK-1.
  • We have a uniform policy. Tops are maroon or white and bottoms are black or khaki. Please see our front office staff or visit our Sunrise House, on the intermediate campus, if you need assistance obtaining a uniform.
  • Our beginning-of-the-day procedures begin at 7:45 a.m., so we encourage you to make sure your student arrives between 7:15 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. in order to have breakfast and join our morning run. Our hot breakfast option will conclude at 8:00 a.m. After that, we will give students a sack breakfast.
  • This year, SFA, our reading program, will begin at 8:15 a.m. Please ensure students are on time. Reading success will determine success in all other subject areas. Our purpose and commitment is to ensure that we prepare every child every day for success at the next grade level. Being present for every minute of instruction will ensure that your student will have every opportunity to be prepared.
  • At the conclusion of the day, all students who will be picked up can be checked out from the gym. Please check in with the front office and sign the checkout sheet in the gym in order to pick up your student.

I look forward to continuing our joint partnership for your student’s success.

Sincerely,

Alyssa Covington
